Guidance

Medical expense insurance

To help you with your insurance company's procedures, here we explain the most important concepts. Remember that each policy varies — this information is for guidance purposes.

COVERAGE LIMIT:

The maximum amount your insurer will cover each time you need medical assistance, depending on the plan you contracted. Found on the cover page of your policy.

DEDUCTIBLE:

The amount you are responsible for paying when an accident or illness occurs. Found on the cover page of your policy.

DEDUCTIBLE FOR MULTIPLE CONDITIONS:

If your hospitalization covers more than one covered condition, a deductible may be applied for each one.

COINSURANCE:

The percentage you must pay on the total hospitalization costs covered by the insurer, after the deductible is deducted. Also detailed on the cover page of your policy.

MEDICAL COINSURANCE:

The percentage of total physician fees you must pay based on what is covered by your insurer. Varies per your policy's conditions.

NON-COVERED EXPENSES:

Charges that your insurer does not cover and will appear on your private account.

PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS:

Illnesses or conditions that began before you purchased your major medical expense insurance and are therefore not covered by the policy.

ACCIDENT:

An event caused by an external, unforeseen, fortuitous, violent, and involuntary cause that injures the insured.

ILLNESS:

Signs and symptoms presented by the patient requiring medical attention.

EXCLUSIONS:

Illnesses or treatments that are not covered by the insurer.

Most common reasons for insurer claim denial?

Hospital expenses below the deductible Policy conditions (exclusions, waiting periods, etc.) Administrative policy issues (non-payment, exhausted coverage limit, etc.)

What happens if the insurer denies coverage for your account? Your account will need to be paid as a private patient.

Your collaboration is essential. Small actions like washing your hands, wearing a face mask, and respecting room capacity protect not only your family member, but all patients in the hospital.

Environmental Responsibility

Committed to the environment

La Bene San Luis fosters an ecological culture among its staff and patients. We invite you to join in with these simple actions from your room.

Turn off room and bathroom lights when not in use to reduce energy consumption.

Keep doors closed while air conditioning or heating is running to avoid energy loss.

Do not dispose of food scraps, paper, or sanitary towels in the toilet. These require large amounts of water to flush.

Use only the necessary water for hand washing. Water is a valuable resource we must all care for.

If you notice leaks, drips, moisture, or abnormalities, report them to nursing staff for immediate attention.

Use the recycling containers available throughout the hospital. A small change from your room can make a difference.

Thank you for caring for our environment!
