The Nursery area at La Bene San Luis is the space where healthy newborns are cared for and monitored during the first days of life, while mom recovers in her Maternity room.

We have 12 individual cribs and 2 transition incubators for babies who require additional observation or thermal stabilization before discharge, in direct coordination with our neonatology team and the NICU.

Our staff is highly trained in newborn care: bathing, feeding, vital signs monitoring and recognition of warning signs during the transition period, neonatal screening and support for mom in starting breastfeeding, following international best practices for neonatal care.

protected and monitored

The safety of every newborn is our top priority. We implement multiple protection protocols and systems that operate simultaneously and continuously, so you can have complete peace of mind during your stay.

24-hour closed-circuit television Continuous monitoring of the entire nursery area, with restricted access and permanent surveillance by security and nursing staff.

Controlled and restricted access Only authorized staff and identified parents may enter the area. Doors remain electronically locked at all times.

Identification bracelets Each newborn and their mother receive identification bracelets at the time of birth, which are verified at every interaction.

Nursing staff always present Nurses with neonatology training assigned exclusively to the nursery area, without distractions from other hospital areas.

What do we care for in the Nursery?

Continuous Vital Signs Monitoring

Each newborn is continuously monitored to detect any changes in their health status in a timely manner.

We perform expanded neonatal screening on all newborns, an early detection test that can save lives by identifying metabolic and genetic diseases before symptoms appear.

Breastfeeding Support

Step by step

What happens when your baby is born?

Immediate assessment at birth

At the moment of birth, the multidisciplinary team in coordination (pediatrician or neonatologist and nursing staff) performs the initial assessment of the newborn.

Identification bracelets

Identification bracelets are placed on the baby and the mother, with information that is verified at every interaction. The baby's footprints are recorded in the clinical file.

Admission to the nursery area

The baby is transferred to the nursery area where a trained nurse receives them, places them in their individual crib and performs continuous adaptation and thermoregulation vital signs monitoring.

Neonatal screening and vaccines

In the first 24–48 hours, neonatal screening tests are performed and with parental consent the initial vaccination schedule (BCG and Hepatitis B) is administered, according to the Ministry of Health protocol.

Visits and family contact

Parents may visit their baby during established hours with full identification. We encourage skin-to-skin contact and early bonding as an integral part of humanized neonatal care.

Joint mom-baby discharge

When both are in optimal condition, joint discharge is granted. The doctor explains home care, warning signs and the date for the first pediatric follow-up appointment.
