— Sociedad de Beneficencia Española, A.C. · San Luis Potosí
To provide comprehensive, high-quality hospital services to our members and users for the prevention and care of their health, in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner, prioritizing patient safety. With modern facilities and equipment, as well as highly qualified personnel.
To be the best institution in central Mexico, exceeding the expectations and achieving the satisfaction of our members, staff, and users.
Each milestone reflects a permanent commitment to the health and wellbeing of San Luis Potosí.
On August 31, 1888, facing the lack of a healthcare institution in San Luis Potosí, the Spanish residents gathered at the proposal of Don Felipe Muriedas Fox to found the Sociedad Española de Beneficencia. Since that day, the institution has never stopped growing and modernizing to provide the best service to its members and patients.
During the early decades of the 20th century, the institution consolidated its presence in the city. The associative tradition of Spaniards in Mexico has been rich and varied; particularly noteworthy is the magnificent work of the Beneficencia Societies, which filled the gap left by limited state resources and assisted those most in need, without distinction.
During the period 2000–2004, the Hospital Certification was obtained from the General Health Council (CSG). La Bene San Luis became the first certified hospital in the state, both in the public and private sectors, guaranteeing structures and processes that produce the best health outcomes for patients.
Starting in March 2005, La Bene San Luis formally joined the Grupo Español, formed by the 7 Spanish Beneficencia Societies in Mexico. In September 2005 the institution was recertified for 5 years under the National Certification Program for Medical Care Establishments.
In July 2011, La Bene San Luis became the first hospital in San Luis Potosí to obtain a 3-year certification with standards aligned to the JCI (Joint Commission International) by the General Health Council — having demonstrated continuous improvement across all care processes.
On June 30 and July 1–2, 2016, upon receiving the CSG audit, results were obtained that exceeded projected expectations, achieving not only recertification for 5 years but also special recognition for the demonstrated improvement in safety and patient care processes.
In its first edition, consulting firm Blutitude and the Mexican Health Foundation (Funsalud) selected La Bene San Luis as the best hospital in the state, 6th at the regional northern level, and 20th nationally. By specialty, it stood out in 2020 in Urology (position 17). "These achievements are the result of years of work and the professionalism of medical, nursing, and paramedical staff."
La Bene San Luis ranked 11th in the North region and 50th nationally, consolidating its position for a consecutive year in the National and Regional rankings.
Being the first hospital in the state to obtain the ESR® Distinctive (Socially Responsible Company) represents much more than recognition: it is confirmation of our commitment to ethics, sustainability, employee wellbeing, environmental care, and community development.
This achievement reflects an organizational culture based on values, transparency, and responsibility that transcends medical care to generate a positive impact on society. Today we reaffirm our leadership as a healthcare institution that not only saves lives, but also builds a more responsible and sustainable future for all.
An international certification was obtained based on standards recognized by the World Health Organization and applied in world-class health systems.
The results confirm the successful implementation of priority standards focused on patient safety and international best practices, establishing a solid foundation for continued growth, innovation, and permanent improvement of our services.
We reaffirm our commitment to a comprehensive, people-centered approach by implementing the Strategies for Healthcare Quality Improvement Model and obtaining the EMCASA accreditation, which promotes improvement in the quality of hospital care, implementation of best practices, process optimization, and the strengthening of staff competencies that help us improve patient safety and provide a better care experience for patients and families.
With more than 135 years of uninterrupted history, La Bene San Luis is today a high-specialty hospital with more than 36 specialties, 4K HD imaging technology unique in the region, and a team of more than 840 physicians. The institution continuously renews its image, equipment, and facilities to remain the health reference in San Luis Potosí.
