History of the award

How did the
DAISY Awards begin?

It was created in 1999 in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from an autoimmune disease. His family founded the DAISY Foundation to thank and recognize the human touch and extraordinary impact he received from nursing teams during his care.

Today, the DAISY Award is presented in hospitals around the world as a tribute to those who make nursing an extraordinary vocation.

A tribute to the humane, compassionate, and extraordinary work of nursing.
