Pregnancy is an exciting time, but it also requires being aware of the changes your body may undergo. Some symptoms can be a sign of complications that require immediate medical attention.

Vaginal bleeding

Any bleeding during pregnancy should be evaluated by your doctor. In the first trimester, it may indicate a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy; in the second or third trimester, it could indicate problems with the placenta.

Decreased or absent fetal movements

From week 28 onwards, you should feel at least 10 movements in a two-hour period. If you notice your baby is moving less than usual, go to the emergency room immediately.

Severe headache with blurred vision

This combination may be indicative of preeclampsia, a serious condition that raises blood pressure and can put both mother and baby at risk.

Contractions before week 37

If you experience more than four contractions per hour before 37 weeks, you may be in preterm labor. Call your doctor or go to the emergency room.

Fever higher than 38°C

A high fever during pregnancy can be a sign of an infection that, if left untreated, can become complicated and affect the baby.

At La Bene Hospital, we have a team of maternal-fetal medicine specialists available 24 hours a day. If you experience any of these signs, don't wait: come to our emergency room immediately.
